12oz bottle via trade with crizay. This is one of those nights I was feeling like a blithering idiot. Pours a clear copper with inch high bubbly tan head. The aroma is a bit light and doesn’t really hide the big ABV. I get plums, raisins, a hint of hay, pale malts (oddly enough) and some alcohol. The flavor starts with cherries, raisins, dates and plum fruitiness. This was followed by lightly roasted to pale malts. Throughout the experience there’s an under tone of alcohol and hotness. Into the aftertaste each of the flavor components lingers for a good while with sweet dark fruitiness cut with alcohol and pale maltiness. Maybe this could use a couple more years to mellow.

On tap at the Trivia Pub in Moon Twp. Pours brownish orange with an alabaster head that dissipates quickly. No definable aroma. The big surprise on the first taste is a hi alcohol impact. Strong, and yes, blithering. Has an immediate dizzying effect. No carbonation. Very bitter medicine like alcohol lingering finish.

May 2018: 355 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet Jørpeland. ABV is 11.1%. Clear reddish brown colour, head goes from minimal to none. Aroma of malts, caramel, dark dried fruits, some vinous and oaky notes. The flavour is medium sweet, with the same elements as the aroma, moderate hops.

Bottle: poured a coppery orange brown with a huge off white head. The aroma was a sweet sticky fruit with loads of malt. Taste is harsh alcohol very up front with tons of fruit and malt. Finishes with a warming feeling.

This reminds me of a Belgian style beer. It smells like a fruit bowl just a tad sweet. The color is a deep rich gold and brown almost orange. That pours a thick head that lasts a long time. The taste is full of flavor and thick in mouthfeel. Very smooth with zero bitterness. The ABV is there but is hidden by the taste.

Normally have enjoyed Weyerbacher beers but not this one. Appearance sucks, aroma is weak. I like the flavour but expected more from such a high abv. Mouthfeel light for the style. Gone and forgotten.

What a big, boozy malt bomb. Dark amber pour with a thin tan head. Aroma starts off sweet--toffee, caramel, raisins and alcohol. Taste is much the same but keeps getting sweeter as it warms, to the point of cloying.

pours a cloudy red-brown with medium sized dense head that refuses to dissipate, although when it finally does it leaves next to nothing behind in the way of lacing. The aroma is sweet, jammy, toasted bread, bing cherry, concord grape. Swirling brings out a more robust toasty aroma along with a bit of booze and vanilla. The taste is sweet, brandylike fruity at the first sip, as this fades, there's dark toast and some herbal floral character comes out. As it warms, more fruity peach/plum/cherry flavor makes itself known, nice. The mouthfeel is full bodied, with sticky, mild carbonation.

Good beer....but slightly lacking for a barleywine. Thinking that some aging may help here. Alcohol is not hidden that well like some others in this style. Makes the mouthfeel a little heavy and harsh. Also a tad too sweet. Maybe more like a strong ale? Haven't had anything to rave about yet from this brewer.
