To say this beer tastes like cake sounds funny when spoken aloud, but makes sense as the smile broadens across your face while sipping on this fantastically unique creation. Can't say how the red wine barrel influences this masterpiece, but the friend who shared this insisted the red wine barrel is the best treatment. Rich and silky, undeniable smoothness and pleasing to the palate. Cake mix, vanilla, brown sugar and creamy frosting. Still scratching my head wondering how they pulled this off.

Shared bottle at KnoxBeerCrew mini tasting. Ruby black color, tight tan head, tons of lacing. Velvety mouthfeel, creamy. Beautiful complex aromas and palate: sweet malts, red wine grapes, red velvet cake with cream cheese icing (I am not kidding!), rich mocha, mild chocolates, light molasses, roasted malts. Very impressive big beer from this fairly new little brewery. Now I have added them to my list of Must Visits when I next head to Charleston, SC. Fantastic beer.
