Our Black Cat Oatmeal Stout aged 6 months in a Jim Beam Bourbon barrel with Organic Rainforest Coffee Beans added for the final 2 months. To top thing off the barrel was dosed with a small amount of Brett and other sour bugs to add a wild side to the beer.

    Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

Tasted at the May Northern California Beer Tasting. This sour ale pours a deep black color. Small to no head. The aroma is coffee and chocolate, with a hint of tart/sour. A medium bodied sour ale. The malts are chocolate and coffee, but the sourness just smacks you upside the head. Its almost lamic like its tartness. That balanced with the big roasty chocolate malts and a touch of bourbon sweetness makes this a very strange and special beer. Hope its still around 6 months from now. I want to taste it then. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is sour.
