André Paeleman refers to this blond beer with a fruity, bitterish taste, as a "living tripel from Wetteren". It is brewed with pilsener malt, oats, two types of hops and a herb. The name "Uitzet" comes from the beer of the same name that was brewed in 1730 by the publican and brewer Verstraete.

04.19.05 750ml bottle. Lightly hazed golden pour with medium head of white foam. Aroma is honey, herby hops, scads of spice and yeast. Very dry flavor and effy but with some fuller substance to the body. Quite bitter. I’d not likely guess this on to be a tripel, but I get it now that I’ve read the description. Some fresh pineapple notes, especially on and lingering in the finish. Worthwhile for sure.

Poured a hazy golden color with a small white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of lemon, vanilla, and cardamom. Taste of vanilla, orange citrus, yeast, light alcohol. Musty, though still nicely carbonated.
