Ive had a few of these over the years as the recipie has evolved. This tasting has definately gone downhill--not a long way mind. This was always a beer that Tree seems to want to get right, but I just think they just are trying to bring up a recipie that just doesn't accomplish its goals rather than start again. Beyond the defensiveness of this quote as I quite like Tree and drink a ton of it, this drink is brown, has an aroma of a brown ale with some begliany sugar and maybe a touch of something like nutmeg. The taste lacks anything subtle the aroma has going, it comes out as a less than stellar beer as it is competing in a style that has so many winners (see column on your right). I will probably buy again and would be interested to have on tap at the brewery with a really fresh batch.

drank this on a warmish winter evening. Others liked it more than I, but I was pretty disappointed. I felt this was similar to far too many other BC craft beers in that they don't have to wow the clientele, so they don't. Really? Even a 'limited edition'? Get yor profit-mongering head out of your ass. Negligible spice flavour, not anything substantial. A decent enough beginning, but the finish was a real letdown. Sour, estery, and an unpleasant alcohol finish really killed this one for me.
