Expecting a stout, got something quite different. Aroma was pleasant with a hefty roasted malt content and mild fruitiness. Poured a supple dark brown with a pencil thin head. Felt light and tart, not quite right. Tasted jumbled and tangy almost like a Jolly Pumpkin attempt gone awry.

My 2012 vintage is infected. 750ml bottle pour is beautiful, dark black with a mahogany head and massive whiskey aromas - vanilla, oak, and roasted malts. The taste is like a green apple lollipop, no notes of whiskey, just a sour stout. Its unfortunate as this beer is supposed to be unreal. I don't even know how to fairly rate this.

12.10.05 22oz bottle (thanks to kramer17801!) at RLB YEHA-05. Dark, fudgy brown; not much of a brown head. Butterscotch and cracker at the aroma forefront with bourbon-ish alcohol in the background, plus caramelized fat - like a burnt bbq rib. Ashy and dry, lightly bitter, coffee astringency. Rich and slick. Very tasty.

Poured an opaque black color, with a small, tight, tan, creamy head, that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of oak, chocolate, smoke, bourbon, and nuts. Taste of chocolate, roasted malts, more nuts, dried fruits, anise, and bourbon, with light alcohol. Surprisingly full mouthfeel.
