Pours a real dark brown colour, almost black, with a bubbly-milky mocha-coloured head, smaller, but gives a creamy thin lace and some top to the brew. Bitter 90% cacao aromas with some dark fruits undertones, molasses, nuttiness and vanilla. The taste shows the oak barrel flavours over the chocolate, roasted malts. The bourbon adds a little sweetness and dark fruitiness, but is mildly blended. Yes, just well-blended overall with nothing too sharp. Coffee is hard to find in there. Enjoyable.

Picked up a 500ml bottle from the brewpub. Pours a nice huge frothy tan head and has a dark brown appearance. Thick dirty lacing. Great retention. Aromas of dark roasted malts, cocoa, coffee and mild spices. Also a little bit of the bourbon is noticeable. Flavours are mostly roasted malt, chocolate, coffee and subtle notes of bourbon. Lots of raisin and plum notes in the finish. Dates as well, but very faint. Nice smooth and slick mouthfeel. Alcohol is actually quite apparent and can feel it pretty good after a while. Some sweetness is well balanced with bitterness. Great stuff though.
