Pours hazy, barely translucent honey golden. Aroma presents malty, honey and fruity tones. Honey, malt and fruity tones round out a pleasing flavor. Mouthfeel features firm body and good fizz. This is a behemoth.

Shared by Jason. Deep amber color, tight short head, little lacing. Big boozy sweet and hops bomb: nearly syrupy in a good way, brandy, toffee, salted caramel, hugely floral and earthy, just BIG. Very warming. Good winter beer. Thanks Jason.

2011 bottle - yellow waxed. Beautiful deep red pour with ample carbonation and a thick sticky head. Malt forward aromas of raisin and figs and citrus fruits. Complex flavors of bread dough, dark fruits, and earthy hops give way to a pleasant bitter finish. Deeply satisfying to sip, even with age, a spectacular American take on barleywine.

Haven't had this for a couple of years, I don't remember it looking so good. Clear ruby and amber tones with thick head and long lasting lace. Smells of grapefruit and hops, doesn't let on that its a big barley wine. Flavor is more citrus, alcohol burn, and heavy maltiness. All in all its a good sipper but for the cost, there are better barley wines.

2011 vintage and this batch was recently brewed specifically for their distribution back into oHIo from what I understand. Fairly clear dark amber/copper body with a thick foamy head and ample lacing. An enticing aroma of citrus and pear followed by a resinous pine accent and finally delving into a raisin and toffee masterpiece. The aroma is more IIPA than anything else, but the layers of influential malt really make this special. Medium bodied and firm, but extremely drinkable. A nice hop bite but I wouldn't say it's overly bitter. Dank hop flavor similar to Dreadnaught that soon leads to an abundant fruitiness and caramel bread sweetness. This is truly an unusual Barleywine, but I see what they did here and it's amazing fresh....I can only imagine what some time in a cool dark corner could do to this beauty.

Bottle, vintage 2009, kindly shared by gunnar. Amber to orange colour, low head. Nice aroma of sultanas and dark dried fruits. The flavour has also notes of raisins, sweet malts, alcohol and decent hops.

style-wise this sure seems like an english style. sweet toffee and caramel flavors and aroma, some fruit too. way more than the hops, which were just enough to balance it. very well done. no idea what the vintage was. thanks pfoxyjohn.

acquired in trade from Brundo4 - 22 oz. bottle into a snifter Pours a mahogany red with a smallish head which completely disappeared. Very light lacing which didn't last. Nose is ripe cherries, bananas and butterscotch. Hoppy start gave way to dark fruit, esp. cherries, banana and butterscotch. It almost tastes like a lighter sherry. There is a little hop bitterness in the dry finish. Some alcohol warming is there, but less that the 12.5% might lead you to expect. The mouthfeel is creamy but light for the style. This was an OK barleywine but not a favorite.

Pours out in a deep amber colour with a low off-white head. Rich and dense aroma of resin, loads of tropical fruits, red cherries, over-riped red grapefruit and alcohol. Full-bodied with notes of cherries, raisins, resin, caramel, fudge and red grapefruit. Smooth, almost sticky mouthfeel. Long chewy and warming finish of resin, red cherries, figs, pine, caramel and mild alcohol. Really tasty if a bit young.
