Pours an almost black colour with little copper highlights. The head is big, frothy, warm beige coloured, long lasting with some foamy lacing. Molasses aromas with dried prunes, dates over the roasted malts and hints of oak barrel smokiness. This can also be felt in the taste and lingers. All-around, seems pretty thin for the style and alcohol content. Smooth overall, going down easily. Nothing too complex, but decent oak infused thin stout.

Shared 330 ml bottle at local tasting, as Thornbridge Eldon Bourbon Oak Imperial Stout, from Ales by Mail. ABV 8.0%. Black colour, beige head. Moderate aroma of bourbon, hints of vanilla and chocolate. Smooth and well rounded flavour, with bourbon, vanilla, chocolate and mild coffee. Excellent beer.

Bottle from LCBO. Pours an average size frothy brownish head, thick dirty lacing, has a deep dark brown appearance. Aromas of chocolate, dark roasted malts, oak notes, hints of vanilla. Flavours are sweet, roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, a little bit of smokey notes. Oak aged notes are noticeable in the finish. Medium retention. Average carbonation. Somewhat of a slick and oily mouthfeel. Pretty good.

The beer pours a solid black colour with a thin half inch creamy tan coloured head. The aroma is weak oak, wood, and roasted malt, No chocolate and no coffee. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, slightly creamy, and well carbonated. The flavour is roasted malt, some oak, some smoky notes, and anise. The oak flavour lingers, and not in a good way.
