It pours a rich deep brown, about the color of cola, and not much of a head. The strong aroma is malty with a hint of toffee and even a bit of cola-like scent. Rich flavor is strongly malty with some hop bitterness and a whisper of toffee. This is a very tasty and satisfying ale, good either on its own or with a meal.

Ruby dark brown pour, medium head, adequate lacing. Molasses, ripe fruits, earthy hoppiness, nuts all in the flavors and nose. Very drinkable, straight up for the style. A stalwart marked off my list.

Brings back some fond memories from way back. Doesn’t have the same affect as it used to. Pours a dark brown with a foamy beige head that reduces to a thin cap leaving very little lacing . Slight roasted and sweet malt aroma. Flavour is sweet and roasted malts, hint of dark chocolate, dark fruits and a bit of coffee. Medium body. Used to think this was strong beer when I was way younger. Still good.

pours a dark brown with ruby tints and shallow brown head and leaves small dots of sliding lacing. A swirl brings back the thin head. The aroma consists of malt, smoke, bacon, citrus, scotch, caramel. The taste is malty mellow with sweet chocolate and carmel, smoke, and a finish of hops and has rich coffee bean lingering finish with the hint of alcohol. The mouthfeel is smooth, mellow, creamy. Overall a great smooth ride from start to finish, with wonderful flavor that just gets better as it warms. It has a rich malty flavor that reminds of whiskey, but a nice balance of hops on the finish meld well with the alcohol.

Very dark in appearance with hints of red in the tint. Very smooth and not too heavy taste like some darker ales I have tried. Packs a nice punch without taking away from the flavor.

500 ml capped bottle. Poured a cloudy dark brown-red coloured ale with a huge three fingers beige creamy head that had a very long retention and tons of micro bubbles. Low carbonation. Good lacing. The aroma is grainy roasted malts, burnt caramel and dark fruits, plums, blackcurrant, raspberries. The flavour is roasted malts, dark fruits, plums, raisins, spicy, vanilla, a touch of licorice and a real hoppy bitterness. The mouthfeel is fulled and very smooth. This full bodied ale has a long fruity and bitter finish. A very nice tasting and smoothy Old Ale.

i hate to say it, but some olde ales taste just that...old. musty. this one does not. a very good, rich, flavorful beer that doesn't betray that it's only 5.6%.

An opaque reddish brown beer. The tannish-white head is robust and creamy. It has good hang time settling slowly into a nice lacing. The aroma is a cornucopia floral hops, alcohol, coffee and a touch of caramel. The mouthfeel is of a thick, oily liquid. The flavoring is more to the bittering than the subtle hints of toasted grain. I liked this one for it’s well blended complexity.
