Bracia is the Celtic name for a beverage brewed in Iron Age Europe with reference found on a Roman inscription at Haddon Hall, Derbyshire. Little is known about this except it was high in alcohol, brewed with cereals and, most probably, honey. Thornbridge's Bracia has been infused with a generous amount of dark and bitter Chestnut Honey sourced by Head Brewer Stefano Cossi from Beekeeper Onelia Pin in the Alpine foothills of North East Italy. Bracia is brewed four times a year and released in limited quantities. Its complex flavours would subtly blend with the roasted and toasted notes of speciality malts. Malts : Maris Otter, Brown, Munich, Dark Crystal, Black, Chocolate, Peated and Roasted Barley. Hops : Target, Pioneer, Hallertau,, Northern Brewer and Sorachi Ace.

500 ml bottle, will soon be available at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 10%. Pitch black colour, large brown head. Mildly roasty, nutty and malty aroma, hints of honey and chocolate. Smooth and rich flavour with loads of malty sweetness, but not cloying. Roasty notes / mild coffee, also notes of chocolate, honey and nuts. Decent hops in the finish and aftertaste, which also has faint notes of peat smoke. Excellent beer!

Pours opaque coffee brown with a thick and frothy tan head. Roast malt aroma has a bourbon overtone and hints of coffee and caramel. Bold favor roars across the palate, leaving roast malt, coffee, bourbon, woody, earthy, smoky, and subtle caramel impressions plus a whisper of sweetness. Texture is fizzy and firm, while smoky finish has a robust bourbon tone. Enjoy a crater if you get the chance.

500 ml capped bottle, bottled Winter 2010, B B 12/2014. Poured in an English tulip pint glass an unfiltered and opaque intense dark-brown, near to black, coloured Old Ale with a generous two fingers tan and dense creamy foamy head that had a very long retention and tons of micro bubbles. No carbonation. Poor lacing. The aroma is rich, roasted malts, burnt coffee beans, fruity, nuts, prunes, dark raisins and evident honey notes. The flavour is roasted malts, coffee beans, cocoa powder, molasses, spicy, licorice, a touch of smoke and flowery tones ending with a strong bitterness. The mouthfeel is creamy, light crispy,fulled,thick even viscous and syrupy. This full bodied Old Ale has a lingering fruity, spicy and bitter finish. What a beautiful balanced Ale, with " the " more touch, the high alcoholic level, 10 % ABv. I definitively agree !!
