The name "Battle Line" is derived from Texas history and legend. During the siege at the Alamo, Lt. Colonel William B. Travis understood the odds that faced his men and, reportedly, drew a line in the sand and gave the soldiers a chance to leave. Of the nearly 200 men under his command, only one chose to leave. Louis Moses Rose, a French mercenary, is now known as the "Coward of the Alamo". "It is a line that not all the piety nor wit of research will ever blot out. It is a grand canyon cut into the bedrock of human emotions and historical impulses." - J. Frank Dobie Battle Line is a rich and malty ale with a smooth finish and just enough citrusy hop presence to help balance out the sweetness.

    Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

Deep brown body with a chewy light kakki colored head, that leaves some spotty lace. Aroma is rich and nutty, some bright citrus hoppiness, with a touch of sourness is present. Mouthfeel is full and a touch prickly from the carbonation. Flavor is the nutty malts upfront with the hops giving a decent bitter bite, and a slightly hoppy, earthy and malty finish. Overall its fairly decent but the sourness aspect keeps me from rating it higher.
