Excellent description by the reviewer above me. Terrapin is one of my favorite breweries and therefore I could not turn this one down. It really is a truly unique beer. As mentioned above, if you like German Doppelbocks and/or Belgian Strong Ales, you may enjoy this beer. The one thing that stood out for me was the oaky vanilla finish. I probably won't get it again, but it is worth trying at least once.

IMO this brew is a cross between a Belgian Strong Ale and a German Doppelbock and that is the best way to explain it. The aroma is bready and sweet with some hoppy bitterness flandering around as well as some faint banana ester as well as some spice and dry vanilla with some oak. Appearance is a hazy, cloudy brown in color with a light-tan head on top that diminishes slightly and leaves lacing. Mouthfeel is medium in body with some crazy complex overtones as well as crazy balance; it is hard to wrap the taste buds around it and the pallate is creamy and wet-like and a tad dry. Flavor is of slight banana as well as some bready mat with some very slight vanilla with some wood and an aftertaste that is wet-like and extreme with some alcoholic tendencies and is a tad hot when it warms with a finish that is smooth, creamy, and tasty with some slight nuiance of dark fruits and plums you find in Belgian brews...just strange. Overall, this beer is the definition of "kitchen sink" brewing for sure and is just so strange and it is hard to peg really but I love this beer for sure and IMO I think it breaks ground in the brewing world.
