NOTE: The substance abuse I sampled was aged in red wine barrels with cherries added. The pour was black with a dark brown head. Aromas of coffee, chocolate, and roasted malts. Thick mouthfeel with ample carbonation. The flavors were dominated by the coffee when this was chilled, but as it warmed an oakiness became noticeable. Other flavors included vanilla, bitter chocolate, and a faint note of cherry. This was very unique and interesting.

rated at the Atlanta Cask Ale tasting in Jan. 2007. Pours dark and thick, just like the Wake and Bake. This was one of the better whiskey barrel-aged beers out there. There’s enough malt and coffee to handle the bourbon without getting overwhelmed.
