A recreation of a beer Jefferson would have had brewed at Monticello based on purchase orders found there for beer making. Very full-bodied, deep reddish-brown, rich malty and complex.

Sampled on tap at Taps on 7/10/2010 from a 2 oz sampler. This American Strong Ale pours a medium brown color from the tap. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is toffee, caramel. fruity and sweet. A medium to full bodied American Strong Ale. The malts are caramel and toffee, with a touch of biscuit. The hops are herbal. Very smooth slightly sweet beer. Hides the alcohol very well. Different beer. lots of malts, but not that sweet, with a biscuity mal finish. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Murky brown brew with a faint head. Theres a slight tartness to this brew that reminds me of grape skins. Lots of rich plum flavor with a little caramel sweetness. Unusual but very enjoyable.
