Sampled on 1/21/2012. This spiced/herb beer pours a very dark brown color from a 12oz bottle. Medium to small sized off white foamy head. The aroma is chocolate, coffee, and caramel, with perhaps a touch of chipotle as well. A medium bodied porter/spiced ale. The malts are chocolate, coffee, fruity and sweet. The hops are earthy and floral. The chipotle flavors are mostly at the finish, not all that hot, but definitely present. The hotness tends to linger and intensifies as the beer warms. Or the chipotle tends to build. Nice flavors. The chocolate and chipotle flavors mix and match well together. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter and spicy.
