A DECIDEDLY AMERICAN IMPERIAL STOUT WITH ESPRESSO The coffee notes in Stone Americano Stout are bold, rich and full of American swagger. For each 120-barrel batch, we incorporated over 250 lbs. of artisanal espresso-roast beans into the mash and added in Columbus, Chinook, Amarillo and Cascade hops to invigorate the coffee taste with a slight citrus and resin hop presence. When it came time to selecting our coffee, we chose the same local roasters who contributed to our sought-after 2013 Stone ESPRESSO Imperial Russian Stout. Their fantastic beans helped us achieve this dark, hoppy and wonderfully aromatic espresso stout.

Rated May 2016. 12oz bottle pours with a deep dark body that supports a long lasting reasonably tight dark tan head of foam. The aroma offers up malt and chocolate sweetened coffee notes where the coffee has a pleasing earthy quality intertwined with more chocolate into the end of the draw. The taste is pretty smooth and definitely rich as I get malt sweetened dark roasted coffee, yummy chocolate notes, a vague sting of hops and spicy black licorice. Toward the finish it picks up an earthy sort of coffee sensation. Solid stout. Imperial Stout though? Not sure the style listing is correct.

Taps coffee brown with a thick and persistent gold-tinged tan head that leaves generous lacing. Quality coffee dominates the scrumptious aroma, sharing the olfactory stage with roast malt, toffee and molasses tones. Flavor continues the quality roast coffee and other notes of the aroma, and adds semi-sweet chocolate to the mix for a seriously satisfying stout. Heavy mouthfeel features firm, lively body and a lip-smacking mocha finish. Viva Americano!

Beautiful full flavours of dark roasted bitter coffee, licorice, vanilla, smoke and spice. Strong coffee and acidic aroma. Medium mouthfeel. Looks ok, head retention could have been better. Good breakfast beer with all that coffee stuff going on.

A dark brownish-ebony colored beer with a three fingered light brown colored sudsy textured head. That head settles fairly quickly. No lacing is left. Roasted malt and licorice in the nose of that with a lightly bittering chocolate are in the taste. Dry finish. Nice quaff.

12 oz bottle. Pours dark brown black with a big creamy tan head that retains well and laces the glass.
The aroma is lactose, roast chocolate malts, stale coffee, dark fruit and black licorice.
The flavor is sweet chocolate malt, heavy roast, black licorice and a lactose twang with a little fruit. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.
Overall, I didn't get much coffee, just a lot of heavy bitter roast. The sweet lactose, fruit and licorice didn't work really well for me.
