For 20 years our passion for brewing and our obsession with hops have challenged traditional styles and expectations for beer. So it’s only fitting we commemorate this momentous occasion by crafting a liquid ode to bold brewing that satisfies your hop thirst and pays homage to our flagship San Diego brewery, located on Citracado Parkway (which itself pays homage to the citrus and avocado agricultural history of the region). “Citracado” also teases the two key ingredients of this beer. “Citra” refers both to the juicy gem of a hop and its citrusy (and tropical) aromas and flavors. “Cado” inspired us to utilize wonderful, native avocado flower honey. Combine the two and the result pours like silk and abounds with enough hops to match our excitement for reaching this 20-year milestone. We thank you sincerely for the years of support and pledge that we will, as always, strive to live up to the reasons for your loyalty!

Rated in Aug. 2016. 22oz bomber pours with a crystal clear copper to gold body that supports a light tan head of foam. The aroma offers up lots of mango, cantaloupe, peach and tangelo fruity hoppiness as well as a bit of bitter smelling spicy onion to garlic like hops. Another pull on the aroma reveals notes of honeydew and pineapple. Nice. The taste is juicy to the point of tasting like it is being blended with mango and cantaloupe juice, wow. Just behind the juiciness are more hop bitter notes of grapefruit and spicy onion dankness and a bit of grassiness too. This comes together wonderfully with rich pulsing hoppy depth and balance. Well below the hops are thin supporting notes of sweet malts and a dash of sweet crystal malts. After a few more sips faint earthy tea like hops are noticed amid the wide load of juicy hoppy fruitiness. This stacks up pretty well with what I remember the 10th tasting like. This is damn good where more bottles are going to be a near term priority for me.

Pours clear copper-amber with a thick and fairly persistent eggshell head. Aroma just about assaults the nostrils (hope my nose doesn’t start bleeding again!) with strong citrus and resiny hop notes supported by fresh malt and subtle honey character. Luscious flavor delights with evergreen and barely bitter hops, tangy orange, tart grapefruit, fresh malt, and a snippet of honey. Smooth mouthfeel offers firm body and good fizz. Happy Anniversary, Stone - and here's to many more!

Pours a clear copper colour with an average sized head with slick lacing. Citrus, pine and spice aroma. Flavour is juicy fruity, pine, pineapple, peppery spice, grapefruit, honey, breaded malt and good rust. Exceptionally smooth mouthfeel with a little carbonation. Good Stone stuff.

22 oz bottle. Pours light copper amber with a big pillowy off white head that retains well and leaves little lacing.
The aroma is bready malt, piney peppery hops and a little fruit with some metallic notes.
The flavor is sweet bready malt and some sugary fruit with a big piney peppery hop bitterness and some alcohol in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.
Overall, just OK.
