The hoppiest golden-brown IPA on earth. As we compose the text for this celebratory beer—a golden-brown India pale ale dry-hopped exclusively and abundantly with El Dorado hops—we stand ready to leap from the precipice of all we know into a new era for our company, our beers and, most importantly, our fans. It’s one that will see us exploring new territory, both geographically and creatively, as we evolve from pacesetters for the American craft brewing movement to cross-planetary champions of the worldwide cause of craft, hoisting our banner to proclaim artisanal beers’ vast superiority over stripped-down, business-driven, industrialized, fizzy, yellow mediocrity. We thank you for shadowing us for the first 18 years of our journey, and welcome you to join us for next leg and all that follows.

Rated in Sept. 2014. 22oz bomber pours with a clear amber body that has copper hues and supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up malty and nuttiness and then the maltiness is lightened up somewhat spicy and earthy hops. Behind those notes I get a bit of citrus heading into a sliver of earthy tobacco. As it warms it seems to pick up a thin layer of earthy almost smoky peat. The taste begins hoppy with spicy and resiny hops that quickly pick up earthy tobacco, earthy tea and some malty nuttiness. To midway the earthy tobacco grows a tad and is joined by the addition of slivers of citrus hop flavor and floral hops. Interesting and this comes together alright.

This poured a murky brown color with a beige head. The aroma contains a bit of citrus and a bit of caramel and nutmeg. The flavor is well balanced with a bitter and malty presence. Im getting a strong lemon and orange flavor which comes with a caramel and biscuit note on the back end. Overall Stone rarely does wrong with hoppy beers and they didnt here. Cheers!

Pours a clear coppery amber with a thick buff head. Strong aroma is woody and hoppy with a resin underpinning and a hint of citrus. Flavor is hoppier still, evergreen with citrus and malty hints, piney but not bitter. Texture is quite firm and fairly lively, leaving a nice green-hops finish. Happy 18th, Stone!

Two fingers of frothy slightly off-white colored head, decent retention and lace. The color is bronze with some light brown highlights.A unique somewhat surprising aroma and flavor. The citrusy/ fruity/ herbal hops are up front in the aroma but hold back a bit on the flavor end. There is a big doughy dark bread with very subtle brown sugar notes. An unusual (in a good way) aromas and flavor i cant quite pin down, licorice almost. Anyway a nice beer thats worth a try.

i again had my doubts about yet another IPA from Stone...yet they manage, again, to make perhaps one of their more unique hoppy brews to date. 13 is still my favorite AV ale, but this one is cool. Malted kinds like a brown ale, caramel and toffee, and a huge hit of tropical fruit and an underlying herbal flavor. Warming and friggin tasty.
