Kölsch-Style Ale is fermented like an ale but matured like a lager, it goes down very easy, dry with a low but balanced bitterness and a light to medium body with a very delicate flavour. Our Kölsch has a clean, malty, chardonnay-like aroma with a dry, refreshing finish. MALTS: Pilsner, Carapils & Wheat HOPS: Magnum, Tettnang & Celeia COLOUR: Light Gold

I get that Kolsch's are supposed to be relatively light, being the German equivalent to a blonde ale and all, but this beer was rather poor. Watery and thin all around, both in the body and flavour and with no real discernable nose. Pass.

Pours an average size foamy white head and has a clear straw coloured appearance. Lacing is not bad, sticky. Quite excessive carbonation. Aromas are grainy, wheat and sweet malts. Flavours are mainly sweet malts, notes of grassy hops and grains. A little bit of fruity notes in the finish, hints of grapes. Light bodied mouthfeel. Good retention.

Pours a clean light-golden, yellow colour with a white foamy head, average stay and some mild lace. Kind of hoppy, dry nose. A little more grain showing in the taste, but the hops are still present. The cereal grains lingers which is what I expect from this style, but lacking a little punch and the hops taking a little too much place. Some fruitiness comes out in the aromas, eventually.
