challenged ourselves to do something radical with this 2X Seasonal offering. This time we simplified to the most basic ingredients – one variety of hop and one type of malt. Yes, single varietal. And since it is a seasonal beer, we’ll change the pairing each year for a truly singular experience. For 2014 we decided to inaugurate 2XONE by using Mosaic hops and Special Pale Malt. Although we’ve reduced this beer down to the most essential two ingredients, it is amazing how complex the flavor is. In a way it is a lot like looking into a kaleidoscope, where the simplest object suddenly becomes a transfixing multitude of images, repeating and reflecting until a whole is realized, only to see it change yet again. FOOD PAIRINGS: Roasted chicken, smoked brisket, sharp and bleu cheese, very sweet desserts. AVAILABILITY: mid-winter thru spring STYLE: Single Varietal Ale BREWED SINCE: 2014 ABV: 8.1% FERMENTATION: Ale yeast, 1 variety of hops, 1 variety of malt. COLOR: Deep gold EFFERVESCENCE: Ample carbonation NOSE: floral, tropical and fruity FLAVOR: Slightly nutty and bread notes from the malt, with pine, citrus, herbal mint and black pepper flavors from the hops. BITTERNESS: High BODY: Light SERVING TEMPERATURE: 40-45°F GLASS: Favorite pint or snifter CELLARING: 40-45°F

Pours a somewhat hazy amber with a very thick buff head. Malty aroma has a strong hoppy overtone, more at an IPA, mostly evergreen and very appealing. Hoppy flavor is mainly evergreen and resiny, fairly bitter, with a malty undertone and some fruity hints - again this is much like an IPA. Texture is fairly firm and lively, leaving a hoppy and evergreen finish. Grab this One while you can!

This is a simple beer, yet a complex flavor. Even though just one malt and one hop, this tastes pretty good with a good amount of hops. Nice malt balance, though it is pretty light with the theme around the mosaic hop. Very much like a light malted IPA. Smooth mouthfeel....crisp and refreshing. Hidden quite well for 8.1% Only grabbed a single sample, but I will get a 6-pack of this one soon.

Golden pour, white tight head, some lacing. Clean malt and hops presence with ample bitterness. Pine, citrus zest, a hint of biscuit, some spice. Simple clean and tasty. I like the idea of the singular malt and hop.
