Tasted during the Nor Cal Beer Geek Tasting on 3/11/2009. This Imperial Stout pours a deep black color from a 22oz bottle. Small to medium sized tan foamy head. The aroma is chocolate and coffee, some burnt/roasty malts. A medium bodied Imperial Stout. The malts are chocolate, molasses and coffee. The hops are earthy. Nice balance. Good carbonation. A little thin for a RIS but nicely drinkable. Hides the 10.5% alcohol well. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Pours black with a thin dark tan head, some sporadic lacing, very light carbonation feeding what little head remains. Aroma is strong molasses, figs, maple syrup, and milk chocolate. Flavor starts charcoal and dark chocolate, turns bitter with roasty coffee, tons of sweet molasses, dark chocolate, and some drying bitter pine sap. Lot of lingering pine and roasty bitterness in the aftertaste that offsets the initial strong syrupy sweetness nicely. Very syrupy mouthfeel, and a very sweet imperial stout.

Poured an opaque black color with a medium sized, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark fruits, chocolate, smoke, raisins, roast and alcohol. Taste of chocolate, with a dry roastiness, light hops, and faint alcohol in the finish.

Pours with a dark brown body topped by a thick head with lots of lacing. It’s sweet yet roasty with notes of licorice, coffee and alcohol. Full bodied, tingly and slighlty dry.
