Schmidt premium 16 oz pop top can. Has a beautiful pheasant on the front, and the can is very proud looking with its red background. How ironic I just tasted some imported ‘golden pheasant’ before this and this down home Schmidt brew is better! Yes, I’ve tasted this before I became a ratebeerian but I wanted to get some ‘good beer’ experience under my belt before I BMC slam this from memory for a ticker. I am actually drinking this as I rate it. Pour is a little brighter lemon than typical pale yellow american brew and the head is a tad bright yellowish. It is almost like this has been colored with yellow food coloring. Has really nice lacing in my steeler stein. Cannot detect much if any aroma. The flavor begins with a creamy carbonation…nice. The taste is friendly and gentlemanlike. Finish is OK and there seems to be no hint of bitterness. I am surprised to write that this beer is well behaved, repeatable, friendly and easy to like. Got be one of the best buys of the cheap beers.
