Ben brewed this ale to mark his 100th batch of homebrew. The beer is rich and malty, with a hint of caramel and plum. Brewed with citrusy American hops and a blend of six varieties of malt, the sweet and dark fruit notes in this beer linger on the palate.

July 2010 - Pour was amber copper with one finger head and some pretty nice lacing. Sweet caramel fruity aroma. The flavor was pretty sweet with caramel and fruit. Very litte in the way of hoppiness. Pretty enjoyable, but not something I’d bend over backwards to have again.

    12oz bottle -

Last bottle of my 6 pack LongShot series. This one seemed to lack any complexity and seemed pretty much a straight shot of sweetness and alcohol. Aroma was hoppy, malty sweetness, alcohol and dark fruit. Flavor had a strong dose of acohol, brown sugar, dark fruits and more alcohol. The appearance was the best part of the beer. Beautiful deep mahogany body, crystal clear with a cream 1/2" head. Another decent, but pedestrian beer in this years LongShot.

nice and hoppy, though still balanced. started out strong and kinda faded into a bit of a one dimensional beer as it warmed. pretty good, still. glad i tried it.

Pours a pretty coppery mahogany with a decent pale orange-tan head. Spicy, slightly malty aroma has an undertone of brandy. Flavor is quite strong, slightly sweet, spicy and malty with a firm but not fierce alcohol bite. Texture is smooth yet edgy and somewhat fizzy, leaving a brandy-like nip behind. Barleywine lovers, get it before it's gone!

Cereal and citrus hop aroma that is subdued overall yet pleasant. Clear mahogany body, 3/4" tan head and great lacing. Sweet and hoppy feel, yet lacking enough depth to stand out. Caramel, molasses, bread, fruity hops and a hint of pine. Overall a nice but tame B-wine.

Pour is ruby-brown with a thin white head. Sweet malt, some citrusy hops and a bit of alcohol in the aroma. Taste is malty sweet to start but finishes with light bitterness. Easy drinking barleywine that is pretty spot on for the style.

Body is a deep ruby brown, good cap with decent lace. Aromas of sweet breads, caramel malts and some citrus hops with alcohol. Flavor is sweet not overbearing though, lots of caramel and a slight fruit hop presence. Overall a nice easy drinking B-wine, not overwhelming at all.

Sampled on 4/23/2010. This barley wine pours a reddish cooper color from a 12oz bottle. Small sized white foamy head. The aroma is bready and caramel, fruity and sweet. A medium bodied Barley wine. The malts are caramel, bready, fruity and sweet. The hops are earthy and herbal. Nice carbonation. Good balance. Not a huge in your face barley wine, but very nice. Hides the alcohol very well. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Pours a dark rust ruby .. . big foam head, lacing is killer .. . dark rummy fruits in the nose .. . slight alcohol pop, nice fruity aftertaste .. . nice mouthfeel for such a big abv, i think this could convert the casual microbrew drinker .. . A nice easy going take on the style .. . on six pack holder in big letters: Ale in Texas .. Yeah, well, I'm not gonna take him up on his offer, you know. I don't need him. I've already got a shallow mate who dresses like a... futuristic prostitute.
