Part of the Russell Brewmaster Series. Blood Alley Bitter is an Extra Special Bitter named after a notorious cobblestone laneway in Vancouver's Gastown district. At 50 IBU's this beer is slightly higher in bitterness than the average ESB but it is well-balanced by the rich, roasted malt flavours.

From Firefly. Bottle was out of round! On purpose, or just a rogue? Poured a foamy white head over a body of clear copper. Aroma wasnicely hopped. Taste was really good, could've been an IPA for the amount of hops on display. Nice, smooth mouth.

Pretty decent ESB. Really good variety of bittering hops, with a touch a tartness as the beer warms. Seems to be a slight hint of the sugar that coats cherry candies, just the sugar, but it is bitter, try imagining that... Good colour, bit of a red tinge to it. Quite nice. Russels limited bottling series is usually above average.
