Dubbel is a Belgian style often associated with monastic brewing. Many of the most famous Dubbels are brewed by Trappist monks, but there are also very good interpretations done by commercial brewers throughout the world in homage to these classics. Dubbels are always dark and usually have aromas of dried fruit like raisins and dates. To ramp up these aromas, we added actual dates into the beer.

The beer poured a mahogany colour with a generous foamy brown head, and left a ton of yeast on the bottom of the bottle. The aroma was dark fruits, nuts, caramel, yeast, and molasses. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour was sweet and bready with notes of caramel, dark fruits, yeast, and burnt sugar. It was a good beer, but not great. -

Pours a clean darker amber colour or light-copper with a frothy-creamy beige head, good stay and some wavy-creamy lacing. The nose is quite yeasty at first, and not the good Belgian one. This changes into a sweet nose with caramel, maple syrup, but also well-blended with some fruitiness, like cherries and other fruits. The taste is pretty malty with a lot found in the nose, but really, really mild. A little less balanced as well with the light hops that should not show in here. Easy-drinking for a 7.5% ABV, that's about it.
