Pours coffee sable with a thick tan head. Be careful if you get a bottle - this is a fizzer! Smoky roast malt and mocha aroma has a definite peppery overtone. This could be tasty and a bit hot - or this could make your mouth feel like a set from The Towering Inferno. Flavor starts like a good stout, roast malt and chocolate and a little molasses and a little coffee, with pepper staying in the background till the finish. Also, pepper is not near as bad as I feared. Mouthfeel presents firm, viscous body and decent fizz. Afterburn gets your attention, but won’t send you running for the yogurt. Feel the rogue rooster burn!

Pours a dark brown colour with a big beige head, long retention and thick foamy lacing. Says "don't shake" on front, and I see why as just turning the bottle made it flow out after the cap was off. Roasted malt aromas with some sweetness to it, from the chocolate malts. Light spices, but these show up more in the finish of the beer. The red chile peppers create some nice heat lingering in the aftertaste. The rest is not as sweet as the nose, and some decent roasted malts show. Beautiful bottle, but not so much about the Sriracha itself. Just a nice spicy hot stout.

Bottle can almost be mistaken for the real deal. Pours a nice big frothy tan head and has a dark brown almost pitch black appearance. Ok lacing. Aromas of dark roasted malt, spices and vanilla beans. Flavours are roasted malts for sure, some notes of coffee and chocolate. But most of all, lots and lots of spices! In all honesty, it actually warms up the throat exactly like the actual hot sauce. As a stout, it's pretty darn good but I think the over the top spiciness kind of works against it. Has a smooth and slick mouthfeel. Not too bad actually. Would be a perfect winter beer.

The beer pours a solid black colour with a generous brown head which slowly recedes to a quarter inch or so. The aroma is cocoa, coffee, peppers, and yeast. The mouthfeel is weak to medium bodied with average carbonation. Quite possibly the thinnest American craft stout I've tried. The flavour was chocolate milk and chili peppers. A little bit of heat added to a very weak stout. I would think that a brewery like Rogue would have had a stronger stout to add the chili sauce to. -

If you're a fan of the Sriracha sauce, the bottle of this beer is a collectible. It's painted red, and is a great replica of the original label. The Safeway supermarket in my area has a display of this beer next to the original hot sauce, and it confuses a lot of people because the labels look so similar. Aside from that, here's what I got from this beer. Knowing that the Sriracha sauce is hot from the chili peppers and sweet from the sugar, I assume that the sugar was totally broken down in the making of this beer. The beer is a really solid stout with no strong tastes of either chocolate or coffee. Real middle-of-the-road stout. But very well done. The tail of the drink, which is after you swallow, is where the heat kicks in. I got a chili pepper heat. No real taste of the pepper, just the heat. So you drink it, taste the dark stout flavor, then get a hot tail. My impression was, it didn't have to be Sriracha. Tasted like a generic hot pepper. There's absolutely no sweetness that's present in the original sauce. Most likely all the sugars were broken down during the fermenting process. So, nice bottle, worth getting if you love Sriracha. Tastewise, it's a solid stout with a hot tail. Costwise, not worth the money. So buy a bottle to drink, keep the bottle, and it's up to you but I won't be wasting my money on another one of these. Recommended once. VERY average stout.

I was a BIG fan of this beer. Thanks to my neighbor for sharing! You could absolutely taste the sriracha sauce in this beer. It was hot but it went well with the stout malt bill. I would have this again but it is a "once in a while" kind of beer for me - I'll have it again in the winter with a big bowl of chili. Very nice beer overall.

750 ml bottle. Pours dark brown with a big creamy tan head that retains well and laces the glass some.
The aroma is roasted chocolate malt with some smoky stale spice.
The flavor is sweet roasted lactic chocolate malts with a big chili kick that has lots of heat but slightly plasticky flavor. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and slightly watery.
Overall, a decent amount of heat, but not great flavor on a base stout.
