Primo is the uniquely Hawaiian premium lager beer—crafted and instilled with the perfect lightness and taste for Hawai’i’s climate and lifestyle. Re-created by a pair of award-winning brew masters who worked with a group of some of the world’s top surfers and watermen, it took some time before we felt we got it right. Primo is rich and golden, with a unique flavor and aroma that comes from a touch of raw Hawaiian cane sugar. We hope you enjoy all-new Primo premium lager beer. It’s a labor of love that we are extremely proud to serve. Editor's note: The beer is contract brewed in Oregon at the Miller Brewing Co. plant and not in Hawaii.

In Hawaii, in the late 50's, we got to know the brewmaster at Primo. He let us in without the tour, to the tap-room. The price was right, free! It was in bottles then, and just comming out with extruded aluminum cans. Those were the days!

Clear pale goden with a moderate off white head that retains well. Nose is pale malts, cereal, corn, hint of vanilla, straw, sweetish notes. Taste comprised of cereals, pale malt, light honey, straw. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, smooth on the palate.

Around May 2014, I see the Primo packaging has changed from blue and white to yellow, blue and red with a retro logo. Nice! It's just an average tasting beer, but being born and raised here in Hawaii, it's nice to see Primo on the shelves, even if it IS brewed outside of the islands. Get this into 30-packs and a lot of Hawaii drinkers would most likely pick it up instead of Budweiser, Rolling Rock or Coors. They all taste nearly the same, but only one can proudly proclaim itself from Oregon, yet representing the Aloha state. Shaka Braddah!

Rice, corn, lager. So many call lager a beach beer, but in the sun it seems bloating and makes me sweat greasy salt. Speaking of salt, I detect a trace in this brew. Skunky, maybe a bit really really old fake lemon juice in the fridge... just cant stand lagers, don't know why.

a little sweeter aroma and flavor than most in the style, which makes it stand out...a little. a quaffable yellow pee pee water, but still yellow pee pee water. very little hop presence or dare i say, complexity, but refreshing and lacking in skunk.

It pours a crisp golden with a thin white head and some copious lace. A funky aroma of sour malts, faint hops, rice, and light spice. The mouthfeel is smooth and slightly rich. Flavors of rice malts, hops, lemon, some yeast and light spices. Stinks, but tastes pretty good.

Found this on this island of Maui state of Hawaii. Seems to be a common semi local brew. The brew is bottled exclusively in "big" cans and bottles, fairly inexpensive by volume. It fits the bill as a beach beer, light and refreshing not a lot of dense flavor, but does what it need to do when your hot and thirsty.
