Ruby-black in color, with dark roast coffee aromatics. Enticing frothy tan head. Semisweet chocolate and bold malty flavor accompany a thick, complex palate. Dark fruit notes combined with a touch of hops leaving behind a smooth warm finish. Perfect after-dinner drink and specifically a dessert beer - excellent pairing for fine cigars.

An underwhelming impy. Lots of roast aroma and flavor but other than that this is a one dimensional beer that does not live up to the style, not bad but not right either. I would skip this if you like a true impy, if you like normal stout this might be for you.

an impy with a somewhat unique aroma and flavor profile. molasses up front, with some chocolate and coffee as well. hops are aparent, but the beer is not bitter. a little smoke and coffee as well. look and body are underwhelming...looking more like a regular stout. the body is thin for an impy for sure, but works because the flavor is so smooth. at the least, the session ale of impy stouts. if you're looking for a huge sipper, this ain't it, but if you want a tasty stout that hides it's abv completely, you found your beer. thanks Lou.

Nice reasonably priced impy stout. Near black pour with a medium head reducing to a creamy tan ring leaving curtains of nice lacing. Aromas of roasted malts, black licorice, burnt molasses. Taste has a bit of the licorice and molasses upfront then roasted malts and a touch of earthy hops. Nice budget Russian Imperial Stout. Very warming on a cold evening while grilling.

Truly outstanding! Pours black with an exceptional tan head that lingers. Smoked, roasted malts and coffee fill the nose and while not heavy, it is full-bodied - and delightful. The flavor is similar to the aroma and is a complete velvety sensation throughout.

Another beer by way of Bluesnbarbq. Pleased to be able to share this with my local beer pal. I don't really understand the naming for these beers; why hogs? What is porkish about a smoked porter or an impy stout? Anyway, this beer goes down like velvet. Slight flavors of chocolate, and some thick roasted malts. A nice RIS, and not overdone like Stone's variety. This is a beer to drink fresh...others may survive aging (like Stone's), but I'm not sure this one will. Thanks again, Louis! Always a pleasure to trade with you.

The body is perfectly black and topped with a thin light tan head. The nose has milk chocolate, raisins and hints of mushroom. There is some roast in there, but it is light. The taste first hit me with bubblegum, then I got raisins and milk chocolate. There is also a little bit of coffee and ashes in the finish. The body is smooth and lightly carbonated. There is a little bit of green apple, but it is light. This is decent, but boring and underwhelming for an Imperial Stout.

Pours a solid near-black with a thick, frothy, rather persistent light tan head. Aroma is smoky with tones of toffee, molasses and coffee. Thick, rich flavor has unsweet chocolate, toffee and nutty components as well as hints of quality coffee and molasses with just a whisper of sweetness. Edgy, fizzy texture leaves behind a nice strong and rather persistent tingle.

Thanks to Blue Lou for this confusing yet enjoyable stout. Amber brown in color, filmy tan head and spots of lace. Aroma of anise, noble hops, maple syrup, and faint chocolate. Medium bodied, roasty and bitter. Black licorice, buttered toast and noble hops are there as well. Thin and on the sweet side, almost seems like a heavy bock beer, still a decent drink.
