The much awaited release of Pisgah's Vortex series has begun. The first offering is a triple IPA weighing in @ 10.8% and 133 IBU. This beer is packed with Chinook and Nugget hops throughout the boil. The refined bitterness within is the trademark our use of whole hop flowers and the aroma is due to 1# of dry hops per barrel for a number of loving weeks. Treat youself with caution! '06-'07

Courtesy of fishingnet. Pours with a gold hazy matte copper look and floating a modest off white head. The aroma is mild and a bit musty with hints of sweetness and chewy muted sweet citrus. The taste is nice and citrusy and backed up by full smooth malt sweetness. It gets pretty grapefruit hop bitter by midway with support notes of pine, grassiness and a dash of spice. It ends dry and a bit rougher than it started.

Sampled at GABF on 9/16/2010. This Imperial IPA pours a medium orange gold color. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is citrusy and fruity. A medium bodied Imperial IPA. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are citrusy and piney. Nice balance. Good carbonation. Big hop bit at the finish. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
