Doppelbock is a Bavarian specialty beer first brewed by the 15th century monks and was considered "liquid bread." Doppelbocks were typically brewed to be sweet with a high-gravity to sustain the monks during the Lenten fast. Saint Florian has a rich golden carmel color with red highlights, notes of raisin and malty sweet aroma followed by a sweet and complex taste profile derived from imported Vienna and Munich malts and hints of dark fruit. SERVING SUGGESTION: Saint Florian pairs well with dark chocolate, German cheeses, breads, or hearty meat or game. Cellar @ 40-45F and serve 45-50F in a flute, pilsner glass or mug.
