Bottled 2013. Pour a see through red/brown color (looks a bit like an old red wine) with some tan foam that quickly dissipates but leaves some lacing. Green chilies, caramel and lightly roasted malt aromas. There is a preponderance of vegetal scents. Peppers and vegetal flavors show up in the taste, but the base of the beer is weak and doesn't support the peppers. Mouthfeel is thin. Alcohol is undetectable. This beer is not at all what I was expecting. The description was very enticing, but ultimately a huge disappoiment. All downhill after I poured it.

Interesting concept and New Holland did a wonderful job incorporating this "sauce" into a beer. Subtle hints of chipotle peppers and rich chocolate intertwined with what I would guess to be a brown or porter base.

Aroma is strong with an overtone of quality coffee and hints of cocoa, cinnamon and licorice. It pours a luscious semi-transparent mahogany brown with an average light tan head that leaves a fair amount of lacing. Flavor is malty with tones of coffee, cinnamon, caramel and licorice and a hint of powdery chocolate. Texture is smooth as soymilk yet has a firm tingle and a bit of edginess, as well as a subtle alcohol bite. Worthy!

Yeah, not sure why I ever got this one. I'm sorry, it's a fun thing to toy with but when it comes down to it, spice sauces and hot peppers just don't really taste that good in beer. This beer was almost too much to handle. I kinda pushed right through it. I have seen in 22s so I might pick up another just for others to try. Coffee on the onse, hot chocolate, taste is too spicey and a little off putting.
