Strong, smoky aroma announces loud and clear "This is a damn good stout!" It has notes of quality coffee, chocolate, licorice and roast malt. This beer pours a rich coffee-sable just a snip or two above midnight black with a fairly persistent tan head that leaves some good lacing. Mouth-filling flavor floods the palate with rich coffee, semi-sweet chocolate and roast-to-the-point-of-charcoal malt notes, as well as licorice, caramel, earthy and nutty hints. Downright lip-smacking! Velvety smooth texture has good fizz and thickness, and leaves a satisfying and smoky finish, as if you’ve been chewing on a slightly burnt high-quality coffee bean. Wrap your lips around this one!

Shared bottle at dinner club. Medium bodied near-black pour, tight short tan head, heavy lacing. Dark rich chocolates, roasted coffee beans, molasses, very earthy hops in the inviting aromas. Taste is very smooth and rich with a dark rich Belgian chocolate flavor upfront immediately giving way to a blend of dark rich roasted coffee, molasses, toasted malts, light earthy hops. Near perfect blend of chocolate and coffee being extremely smooth. Will definitely buy more.

A little on the slick side, but not in a bad way. Chocolate, roast and coffee up front and center. Delicious if not terribly deep, but well priced and ridiculously smooth for a 9% brew. Will get another if its still around. Recommended if you dig the java.

22 oz bottle. Pours dark brown black with a medium creamy tan head that retains well and laces the glass.
The aroma is sweet lactic chocolate and coffee roast with a slight amount of vegetables.
The flavor is sweet lactic chocolate and a lot of roasted malt and coffee and a bit of alcohol. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with low carbonation.
Overall, a nice coffee stout. Sweet with the lactic chocolate, but nice coffee and the roast balances it out. Not top tier, but great value. -

Take a cup of black coffee, add a chocolate bar, let it melt. That about covers the aroma aspect. It delivers where it promises. Standard black body with thin tan cap, that leaves some spotty lace. Flavor was a bit surprising with the acidity of the burnt coffee grounds really jumped out those first couple sips, thanksfully my tastebuds got used to it. Burnt coffee is dominant, little else shows.
