Famous in Michigan for farmhouse ales, our friends at Brewery Viviant introduced us to their biere de garde ale yeast strain. From there, we imagined a slightly tart, intentionally dry beer with hints of bergamot citrus that pairs perfectly with French cheeses. Just the facts Ma'am... Birthdate - October, 2012 ABV - 9% IBU - 18 Calories - 235 Hops - Target, Sorachi Ace Malts - Pale, Munich, C-120 Fruits/Spice - Orange Peel Body - Medium-Light Aroma - Fruity orange and lemon peel, lots of spicy phenolic yeast flavors (clove, peppercorn), fresh herbal tea, fennel, some tropical fruit notes, cellar-like notes. Mouthfeel - Starts warm, cloying and boozy with effervescence like a fine champagne, finishes bone-dry- perfect biere de garde style! Flavor - Sweet fruit, slight citric tart and mineral-like Visual - Light golden straw with a uniform haze & slight sheen; low white head with nice lacing.

Clear gold color, candy sweet aroma. Sour & boozy flavor, maybe a little toffee, earthy without being musty, yeasty across each sip. Nice enough depth, balanced bitterness. Rich feel with tiny bubbles.

Pale gold pour with a small white head. Slightly muted aroma of citrus and Belgian spicy yeast. Flavor is more pronounced with the hops taking a backseat to the spicy yeast but disappointing lack of sour tartness as promised in the description. Hard to believe this clocks in at 9% ABV.

A golden color with a white head. Aroma is yeasty with citrus, peaches, and spices. The flavor is mildly sour and sweet also with some citrus, herbal notes, tropical fruit. The finiish is a bit dry and spicy. Overall this is a nice beer.

I'd had a small sample on tap a few weeks back and enjoyed it. Enjoyed the bomber to myself even more. Love the use of orange peel in this zesty, unique brew. 9% doesn't show, at all. Belgian spices, chamomile and fruit. Solid all around.

22 oz bottle. Pours clear straw gold with a small creamy white head that retains well and leaves a little lacing.

The aroma is musty stinky, almost rotting, oranges with a little bready malt.

The flavor is sweet oranges and musty yeast with a kind of dry and lightly bitter finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation.

Overall, kind of odd - sweet musty oranges with a dry bitter, kind of off finish.

Pours a nice golden yellow/ orange body, a thin ring of lace with the occasional random spot of lace. Smells include an up front of orange peel, belgian yeast and a bit of grain. Taste is rich, sweet and slightly citric. The grain is also more malty than I would have though, some bits of apricot here as well. Medium body with lighter carbination. This beer is okay, glad it's done though.

Bright golden pour, tall white head, ample lacing and carbonation. Fresh yet funky aromas of sweet citrus, oranges, Belgianesque yeasts, spices and light black pepper, chamomile tea, honeysuckle. Nice flavor, with the oranges and tea qualities upfront, then rather lightly funky with some honeysuckle. The ABV is very well hidden making this beer dangerously tasty.
