Hemp Ale is a one-of-a-kind brew that boasts an incredibly rich profile and unique herb-accented flavor that is attributable to the incorporation of hemp seeds into the brewing process. A wonderful brown ale full of complexity Hemp Ale is great with food or by itself. American hops create a perfect balance to the darker malts used in this brew. This brown ale is the Gold Medal winner for first place in its category at both the 1999 and 2000 California State Fair Craft Brewing Competitions. accolades: 2009 California State Fair - Silver Medal 2009 LA County Fair - Gold Medal 2006 World Beer Cup – Bronze Medal 2005 LA County Fair – Gold Medal 2005 California State Fair – Silver Medal style: American Brown Ale Alcohol By Volume - 5.7% Color - 30.0L (Brown) IBU - 32.0 (Medium) fermentation: Fermented in 100% stainless steel with Humboldt Brewing’s original house yeast strain malts: Premium Two Row Wheat Malt Crystal 75 Crystal 120 Chocolate Malt Toasted Hemp Seeds (adds an herbal / nutty flavor... and a smile) hops: Bittering - Chinook Late Kettle - Tettnanger

I was pretty impressed with this beer overall. Picked it up at Uptown today. Pours a clear copperish colour. Nose is nutty, sweet like maple syrup notes. Flavors are equally sweet, very spritzy and oh, so natural.....man. ..

nice and malty up front, with peet and caramel malt, good body, although the aroma is lacking. the beer makes up for it with it's solid malt backbone and hoppy finish. solid, with a small alcohol kick

Weird, this beer wasn't on the site when I tried to add my review weeks ago, and since then someone added it without reviewing it LOL. I had this one at the Oregon Garden Brewfest a few weeks ago. Great dark red color with a tan head and thick lacing. Lightly sweet aroma with spicy hops. Very smooth and balanced. But the flavor was so odd with spice. Extremely unique, and very drinkable.
