Moylan's Irish Style Red Ale

Malty aroma has a fruity underpinning, and is not strong but still inviting. It pours a clear amber-copper with an off-white head that doesn’t stick around for long. Flavor has a core of malt plus subtle fruity, caramel, grassy and woody tones and a whisper of honey sweetness. Texture is about average fairly smooth and gently fizzy. Overall, not great but still worthy.

I didn't really care for this beer. Pours... you guessed it... red. Foamy. Thick. Smells musty. Syrupy mouthfeel. Taste is sweet. Old grain, rye and dirt predominate. Finish is malty. Skip it.

Get a bit of smoked grain when i first pop the bottle but that dissapears pretty quick. Otherwise a pretty good beer. Malt forward, seems a bit acidic when left on the tounge. No such thing as head for more than a quarter second at any point. Nuts, as in hazelbut aroma, and has the smooth flavour of roasted macadamia nut cookies. Pretty bland as things go on though, the initial fun bits lose their interest, and the reamaining beer is just mediocre.

I gotta agree with Clash, Irish red ales are the best brew style ever. I loved the kilt lifter, and had to try this one. I was welcomed by the scent of smooth malt heaven. Appearance was a little tranlucent. Taste and in the mouth almost transported me to a irish pub with a side order of fish and chips. I truly enjoyed this and couldnt stop thinking about having another.

Irish Ales are the most awesome style ever.......with that being said you cant expect much and this delivered. An amber color with a white head. The flavor is sweet and malty with some dark fruit and caramel. The finish is sweet with a hint of sourness. Overall on par with most of the style.

This beer looked good in the glass. A very brown-red that was almost not able to be seen through. The flavor was of an ale with a lot of malt in it, which I suppose that is to be expected.

cheapdark (1787), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA 2.1 Aroma Appearance Flavor Palate Overall 5/10 4/5 4/10 2/5 6/20 Mar 25, 2009 22 oz bomber. Sediment on bottom. Orange brown beer. Just plain old beery aroma. First taste is a rather intimidating impact. Smooth and malty but exhibits a flavor of higher alky brews. Medicinal malt finish. Probably would not purchase again. For style, not as good as North Country McCafferty’s Ale or Saranac Irish Red Ale.

Pours an amber red with a nice medium cream head leaving some lacing. Aromas of sweet and slightly toasted malts, caramel, a bit of nuts. Taste is smooth, sweet and malty with a nice caramel flavor and a very slight nuttiness - not much hops though - a good beer.

Bottle courtesy of Dalzale. Pours red with a thin off white head. Smells of spice, earth, caramel, dough. Tastes of dough, caramel, some bitter hints. Finishes earthy.
