Tanner's Jack was named after the old Tanner’s drinking vessels, which were known as Jacks. They were in common use from medieval times through to the 19th century. Leather was used because it was more readily available than pewter, decidedly less costly than glass, and did not break like pottery. Leather was also favored because of its strength allied with its light weight.

Beautiful amber color with a thin white head. Very smooth in body and easy to drink.

Another example of the British malty beverage industry production. Pours an interesting orange tan color, slightly sweet notes, with just a hint of bitterness to liven things up. All in all it is OK, but don't fly over the pond for it though.

It's really just a knock-off of Old Speckled Hen - with a little less on the hops - and about a half-percent of alcohol (in case you're counting). It's good, but I prefer the OSH!

A clear bottle yields a orange-amber body. On pour there is a healthy off white head that has moderate retention, settling into light lacing. The aroma is some hops and a fair amount of souring malt and yeast. The taste is sweet honey and caramel. The aftertaste bitter and slightly sour.

Upon opening there was a slight skunky aroma to this and I was a little turned off. However, the taste was quite good-a nutty and faint citrus flavor and quite smooth. I really liked the orange coloring and the creamy head. Give it a try.

This orange label ale has a heavy floral hop aroma, thin head with a fair amount of lacing. A light orange amber color and a smooth mild mouthfeel. The flavor is ok but not very complex. I would call it a good session beer.

Reddish copper colour with mediumsized foamy head. Fruity hoppy aroma. Bitter fruitish/berryish flavour with hoppy notes. Standard bitter, with no big surprises.

This bitter pours an orange color from a 12oz clear bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is slightly malty with a touch of floral hops. A medium bodied bitter. Malts are bready, biscuty and slightly sweet. Hops are mild and slightly floral. Nice carbonation compliments a very crisp dry finish. Smooth tasting, very drinkable bitter. The clear bottle does not seem to cause any skunking problems, or at least not with this bottle. This beer would make a nice session beer. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is crisp and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
