for all of the hype i had read about this beer, i have to say that i am slightly disappointed. i think the rochefort is a better trappist than the westy. its still a great beer, full flavored and smells great. beautiful pour. the disappointment is that the after taste is slightly bitter

not a beer i would recommend for a belgian beer drinker. never had a flemish sour before and if this is it, i dont want it. its bitter, vinegar taste reminds me of a wine. a small, narrow taste in the mouth with that lingering sour taste that doesnt leave you wanting more

a truly special beer. fruity and full flavored. its a dark colored poor with a slight head. beautifully laced and strong, but not overwhelming. the abv doesnt intrude on the enjoyment.

Opened batch #73 today. As with the other reviews, this is one of the few, if any, bitter dubbels i have ever had. the pour, smell and appearance is the same as any other dubbel, but the taste will leave you wanting more

not as impressed with this as i had hoped to be. nuttier than i prefer and perhaps it was a bad bottle but it smelled a little over powering. full flavor but overall was just kind of dull
