I have to say that I've never given Moosejaw much consideration; always thought they were kind of a novelty with mediocre beers at best. That said, this dunkel is a very good effort. Pours ice cold (!) from the tap into a chilled glass (!!) a deep mahogany brown with a thin tan head that leaves good lacing. The nose is light and mild; earthy and malty aromas emerge as it warms. Full, smooth mouthfeel and medium-bodied. Quite sweet but enticing roasted malt flavors, and well-balanced with robust bitter hops. Nice smooth, tasty finish. Maybe I need to sample other offerings from this family-friendly faux-rustic pizzeria -- next trip.
