This is the definition of awesome. A very black beer, no brown edges. Head is brown, creamy, and lasts. a lot of coffee and chocolate on the nose, as well as a little bit of leather. Mouthfeel is creamy, very good for a stout. Flavor is similar to the aroma with notes of strong coffee and dark chocolate being balanced by the barrel character. Highly recommend this beer.

Pours out a solid 98% black with a cascading tan foamy lingering head. The aroma is of dark roasted malt. The mouthfeel is good but not exactly thick. The taste is very complex and very well balanced. Not sure if the bitterness is from the hops or high ABV. This one just get better as it warms up. ( must buy again). Just gone blown away my research shows it 95 IBU.

This stout was delicious. The closest my taste buds have met true earthy coffee flavor. I thought I was drinking coffee beans in liquid form. A pretty glass makes all the difference. Nice dark color. Complimenting tan foam. This tasted like More!

Nice aromas of the oak, wine, chocolate, bitter coffee, and some earthy notes. Super frothy head, it took a long time to pour it into my glass, good retention, pretty thick lace, especially for a 10% ABV. Mouthfeel is kinda thin, it looked like it was coating the glass as i poured, bit of a let down. Flavor really didnt live up to the aromas. Bitter bland coffee, some alcohol heat on the back end.Overall this one came out of the gates like a racehorse, and then limped to the finish, not bad, but not good enough to warrant another purchase.

Black with lasting light brown foam head. Aroma is chocolate and smalle coffee. Taste is nice bitter with tones of coffee and bitter chocolate. Aftertaste is bittersweet. A truly nice beer. (Houston 201301)

I was really looking forward to this, but ended up being pretty unimoressed with the imperial part of it, and the barreled part. light vinous notes, maybe a bit of twang and extra carbonation, but really couldn't tell this was pinot barreled. the stout is an ok one, but lacking in any russian imperial qualities. light and easy drinking...not what i was hoping for.

A black colored beer with a big frothy light tan head that rises robustly above. There's good hang time on this one. Settles into a light dusting of film aside the glass and thick ringlet atop he body. Deep roasted, chocolate nose. Bitter chocolate, light vinous. A light, smooth, well carbonated beer.
