Part of their Seasonal Sampler 6-pack for winter 2015-16. Pours a hazy amber colour with a warm beige cap, decent retention and some creamy lace. Caramel and fruity malt aromas. The taste shows more roasted malt character with grain, nutty notes and mild grassy hops in the finish creating a nice flavour overall. Some fruitiness blends thing well. A different Scotch Ale, but a decent brew overall.

Pours a fair amount of frothy off-white head but dissipates relatively quickly to a very thin coating. Has a sort auburn coloured appearance, reddish tones. Aromas of sweet malts, earthy hops and hints of caramel. Flavours are mainly malty, has a little bit of a rusty like taste on the palate. Some strong notes of caramel and spice. Slick and oily mouthfeel. Lively carbonation. Overall, not too bad.

On tap from the MS pub: A deep brown ale with ruby highlights, smallish cap. Aroma is caramel sweet nutty malts, light wisp of smoke. Taste is on the sweet side with the caramel malts and nutty-woody tastes in the front then the back thins out and drops off quickly. Tasty, malty but a rather thin bodied less intense version of the style.
