Shared bottle at local tasting, Bought at Ølbutikken, Copenhagen. Pitch black colour, moderate brown head. Intense aroma of bourbon, concentrated dark malts, hints of leather, salty liquorice and chocolate. Rich and intense flavour, dark malts galore, coffee, chocolate, vanilla - and bourbon, of course. Solid hops in the finish. Brilliant stuff.

Strong aroma is smoky with notes of coffee, unsweet chocolate and molasses, with a firm woody bourbon overtone - very appetizing. It pours a luscious opaque sable with a VERY thick and persistent fluffy light tan head. Flavor is - SU-PERB! Rich and smoky, strong tones of quality roast coffee, unsweet chocolate, molasses, caramel, charred wood and good bourbon. How could I complain? Texture is not just full-bodied, it is thick as cream and fairly tingly with a strong alcohol bite. This beer is danged near perfect, and a MUST for all stouties!

Bottled. Pitch black colour, small brown head. Aroma is alcohol, vanilla, some normal Black hole as well as mild wooden notes. More whiskylike sting. Flavour is rather sweet as well as vanillaish and wooden.

2nd sample of the barreled black holes...my favorite, by a hundredth of a point over the wine version. not as complex, but just super tasty. mostly roasted coffee and bourbon here, blanaced well. neither of the first two (bourbon, red wine) were hot at all for a 13% brew, which was a nice surprise. 8/11 - stood up to the cognac and red wine as possibly the best of 2011.

Pours out in an opaque black colour th a small bubbly tan coloured foam. Big aroma of roasted malts, black chocolate, pine, coconut, vanilla, black pepper and wood. Full-bodied with strong concentrated notes of wood, bourbon, vanilla, burnt malts coconut, pine and black chocolate. Long woody finish of bourbon, vanilla, coconuts, roasted almonds and black chocolate. Well-hidden alcohol. Nt a huge fan of Bourbon but really dig this monster.
