I like me some anise, but this seems like a bit of a one trick pony. Everything else was very subdued under waves of anise/licorice in the aroma and flavor. subtle roasted malts, molasses, chocolate. Body a little thin and hot, but it went down surprisingly easy. A beer enjoyed in small increments but not one I'd want a bomber of for myself. 1/13 a year later, more molasses, less anise. Maybe a little better than scored originally.
