looking forward to this but it was a letdown. funky? yes. but not really in a good way. don't know how to explain it, it was just...off. not horrible, but not what was expected.

Tasted on tap at the Bistro Barrel Aged Beer Festival on 11/15/2008. This barleywine/wheatwine pours a medium orange gold color from the tap. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is strange to say the least, I mostly got acetone and diesel, then some funk and must. A medium bodied barleywine/wheatwine. The malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are earthy. Kind of funky and musty, but the acetone aroma is not in the flavor. The palate is strange, kind of thin with an alcohol after bite. Not sure I can get past the aroma on this one. Mouthfeel is thin. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is tart with and alcohol bite.
