Welcome to Altitude! You are now at 8,000 feet on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada. You have traveled far, and are about to be rewarded with some of the best craft beers in the world from over 60 microbreweries. In this bottle is one of those fine ales, brewed and commemoratively bottled especially for this 15th annual Mammoth festival of beers and bluesapalooza. This imperial stout was first brewed during the winter of 2009/10, and has been aged for a rich, dark and roasty flavor. This brew is not a light-bodied beer for the pint glass, but should be enjoyed at cellar temperature in a wide-rimmed wine glass. (and possibly with a scoop of vanilla ice cream...) CHEERS!

2010 batch sampled 4/2011: big black beer with a tight head. aroma of malted chocolate, a touch of cofee, lots of roast and hops. at 70 ibus, not too bitter, but the hops are more prominent than expected. still a sweet beer first, though. slick feel, medium bodied for an impy with a big bittersweet chocolate finish. maybe a hint of dark fruit in there as well. nice beer.

The alcohol on this one is a bit hot. Pours a nice chocolate brown color with a thin cap of head. Tastes of chocolate, and roasted malts. The mouthfeel is like one of those velvet paintings of dogs playing poker; soft and smooth, but nothing high class or refined, and very enjoyable. This borders on being rather bland for an imperial stout, but it is from Mammoth Brews, so you can't expect too much. Nice commemorative bottle, though.
