A Classic European pilsner given a new springtime spin with wild sour accents of organic agave and natural blue poppy seeds planting a sweet, nutty balance. Our Poppy Agave Pilsner is summoned by a strengthening sun from two-row Pilsner malt and Noble hops. It melts snow and thaws souls with 30 IBUs and an ABV of 5%.

I had this "Randallized" (over hops) so this affected the flavor; keep this in mind when reading my review. Pours a clear golden amber with a fine-bubbled and rather persistent white head. Aroma is crisp and rather fruity, with a hoppy undertone that was doubtless due to the added hops. Flavor is crisp and has more than a hint of banana; in this instance it had considerable hoppy flavor and slight bitterness. Texture is a little thicker than other pilsners I have tried, smooth and lively.

When I first heard about this I thought no way Then I gave it a go. It really wasn't bad. The agave made it strangly refreshing. I would advise to get this one quite cold before trying.

I was afraid to try this one at first...I have had that other beer that is made with "agave" and I do not care for it so I was expecting the same with this, and the poppy seeds didn't make sound any better. I drank this one from the bottle and did not see the appearance nor the lacing. The aroma wasn't too bad and I was surprised at the flavor. Not sure if I can taste the poppy seeds but I was relieved to not taste the stong flavor (whatever it is) as the other one I mentioned earlier. Overall nat a bad beer...I wouldn't go out of my way to get one but not bad nonetheless.

Magic Hat Odd Notion - Poppy Agave Pilsner (Spring 09) 2.3 cheapdark Not much aroma. Hoppy on the palate like a stronger APA or mild IPA. Has a decent smoothness about it. Looks like a pale lager.
