A newer Lovejoy's recipe, this beer received a great response the first time it was poured here, so I have decided to make it a part of our regular lineup of beers. This beer is closer to a black stout than a brown stout. A little higher percentage of roast malt was used to give it a deep, dark color. Hop bitterness is quite low but not absent, complementing the roast and chocolate flavors. A slight warming sensation can be perceived due to a higher alcohol content. Named after the river in Austria, where St. Florian (patron saint of beer, firefighters, among other things) was drowned for converting to Christianity in 304 A.D. The Enns River is also a natural divider between upper and lower Austria. Native Austrians often refer to areas as above or below the Enns. Enjoy!
