Got this as extra in a trade. 2011 vintage, poured at 55 degrees into a snifter. Aroma is heavy in bourbon and oak, the presentation leaves a little to be desired as it appears undercarbonated and a murky brown. The taste more than makes up for it! A load of oak and bourbon give way to chocolate, coffee, and a long smooth vanilla finish. I really like this, it is extremely well done for a small operation. It's not pretty in the glass, but it drinks very well!

Nice color, black with a thin tan head and little lacing. This brew really shines in the nose, even my screwy sense of smell picks out bourbon, vanilla and some coffee. First taste is everything you'd want in a bourbon barrel aged stout; a little heat, a little tang, and toasty malt... but then there's a sourish aftertaste that lingers for a good while. Medium mouthfeel, might be a tad thin for the style. All in all, a decent offering, though there's better bang for the buck to be had. I suspect a year or so in the cellar will smooth out that aftertaste. .......................................................................... 2nd bottle, a month later... Maybe I got a bad one last time, the sour aftertaste is absent this time, and I'm enjoying a pretty solid bourbon-barrel stout.

camille! .. . pours a medium black (right?) .. low foam, some sparse glue bubbles .. . good amount of bourbon, some coffee grounds .. . abit weak in the mouth but good for a first attempt at stout and more so a barrel aged .. . How long do I have to wait for a conduit? I don't want the labor pains, I just want the baby!
