English A golden beer, malty, with rich body and aromas of noble hops. These hops are part of the four traditional strains called "noble", which were crossed to give rise to all the modern varieties grown today. Bavarian tradition emphasizes the use of noble hops for a good number of traditional beers such as the Marzen style beer served during Oktoberfest. These beers are malty and lack in fruity flavor. Although our Munich looks suspiciously like a traditional Marzen, there is an important difference between them: the Marzen (Oktoberfest) is a lager (cold fermented), while our Munich is an Ale (warm fermented) and therefore cannot belong to this style. Had at the Sparks st. Ottawa location. Pours a huge foamy white head and has a nice clear golden appearance. Good lacing. Lively carbonation. Aromas of roasted malts, sweet malts, light wheaty hints and mild caramel notes. Sweet and slightly bitter, malty flavours. Some caramel and very faint toffee. Tingling mouthfeel and a mild warming sensation. Thick malty sweetness on the palate. Pretty good.

Had with PaleAleRider at his pub-crawl. Pours a clean golden colour with a white cap and decent lacing. Good malty aromas with some Belgian Ale yeast. Wet mouthfeel with a little tart. The Belgian Ale yeast is quite present with rye malt and fruity notes. This is a really good malty German brew.
