Good morning. You've woken up dead. You're in ruins. On the brink of catastrophe. But don't be discouraged. You are ripe for a revolution! Just like the Bolsheviks of the early 1900's, our barrel-aged Russian Imperial Stout doesn't happen overnight. Patience is required. Wake up dead hibernates in our cellars for over 12 months before being blended to woody perfection. Hints of raisins, cherry, licorice and toffee, followed by earthy, herbal hop notes that rise up, joining you in your fight for a better life. Don't be afraid of the dark. All power to the stouts!

Aroma is not strong, but it is a bit smoky and has hints of coffee and molasses. It pours an opaque dark chocolate brown with a fairly thick pale tan head. Rich flavor is a pleasant surprise after the wan aroma - it is chocolaty with tones of molasses and nutty, toffee and coffee hints. There is a whisper of sweetness and a sharp alcohol bite. Texture is silky smooth yet fizzy and edgy. A good one.

Meh...a very mild imp stout with a decent hop presence. Unfortunately, not very good smelling, looks ok i guess, and the mouthfeel is way too weak for an imp. Can't love the left hand.

Shared by a friend who picked up a couple bottles a while back. Impressive looking pour, black as all get out with a huge light brown head. Aroma is roasty with some wood and vanilla hints. Medium bodied with a weird thin feeling finish. I was unimpressed with the medley of flavors. Chocolate, coffee, toast, wood, vanilla all followed by a firm hint of bandaid. Perhaps an infection, but I've had this flavor pop up in a couple other Left Hand beers.

The pour is a fairly dark brown color with a finger of khaki colored head. There's a bit of coffee and chocolate in there, but also some butter and a definite grassiness. Maybe a bit of smoke in there, too. It smells quite dusty, too. The old sour barrel smell is there as well.Oh wow, that flavor is bad. Sort of sour and acrid with bad coffee and chocolate flavors. There's a hint of smoke, maybe some wood, and a bit of ash and cigarette. Not good at all. Medium body with a medium level of carbonation. A real let down having tried thier regular version of this.

a nice beer for sure, but not an elite impy stout. actually poured lighter than an earlire oatmeal stout, but is pretty big on chocolate/licorice.raisiny aroma. hops and roasted malt also present in the flavor. pretty smooth, alcohol eveident but not overdone.

It pours oil-black with a settled 1/2-inch thick light-tan head and some patches of lace. An aroma of roasted malts, coffee, cocoa, light molasses, orange and light spice. The mouthfeel is smooth and rich. Flavors of roasted malts, coffee, cocoa, hops, orange, molasses, bitters, and spice. Solid, very good.

A deep brown, nearly black colored beer. A small soapy textured tan head rises above. Some hang time on this one. Settles into impressive lacing of splotches of film aside the glass and thick soapy ringlet atop the body. The woodsy, alcohol of the aging jump out to the nose. That same alcohol dances beautifully with dark fruit like raisins. There’s a roastiness in that tasting as well. The body is full and creamy. Really a beautiful experience, I’m grateful for having partaken in.
